49ers' Top Hypothetical Trade Packages in 2024 to Return to NFL Super Bowl in 2025
The San Francisco 49ers will be in full offseason mode in less than a week.
Regardless of the Super Bowl 58 result, the 49ers have some roster building to do to be back in the Big Game in 12 months.
The 49ers are set to lose Jauan Jennings, Randy Gregory and Javon Kinlaw in free agency, as well as some depth pieces, like Sam Darnold and Chase Young.
San Francisco's core will still be in place, but it must improve on the outer edges of the roster in order to be the most complete team it can be going into a potential title repeat season, or entering a quest to get back to the Super Bowl to win it.
49ers Trade Day 3 Draft Pick to Tennesse for Treylon Burks
1 of 3
San Francisco sits in an interesting spot with its wide receiver depth ahead of the 2024 season.
Brandon Aiyuk will become a free agent after the 2024 campaign and Jauan Jennings will be a free agent this offseason.
San Francisco may have to get creative to find a Jennings replacement who could also thrive in the No. 2 role if Aiyuk departs.
Treylon Burks has not panned out in Tennessee yet due to injuries, but when healthy, he is a dynamic playmaker, and one the 49ers could covet.
The Titans may be willing to part with Burks for a Day 3 draft pick because first-year head coach Brian Callahan will be adding new parts to his offense.
Burks could be the odd man out in Tennessee, which could lead to San Francisco taking a flier on wide out with a cheap contract and a ton of potential.
49ers Trade Third-Round Pick to Green Bay For Christian Watson
2 of 3
Christian Watson could be viewed as surplus in the Green Bay Packers offense.
The development of Jayden Reed, Dontayvious Wicks, Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave in 2023 cut out pass-catching options for Watson when he was healthy.
The 49ers would love to have a speedy and physical wide receiver to partner with Deebo Samuel and Aiyuk for at least one season.
Watson could fit perfectly into the No. 3 wide out role and he could provide some different in the red zone with his height and physical nature.
Green Bay may not want to trade Watson at all, but if the player does not believe his role will increase in 2024, the Packers might have no choice.
San Francisco has 11 picks in the 2024 NFL draft, including two late in the third round. One of those selections could be shipped to Green Bay in exchange for a wide receiver with two years left on his rookie contract.
49ers Trade Second-Round Pick to Carolina for Brian Burns
3 of 3
The 49ers' big swing in the trade market should come at the edge-rusher position.
Brian Burns is one of a few top edge-rushers who could be on the trade block due to a variety of reasons.
Burns is entering the final year of his contract with the Carolina Panthers and he is likely set for a large payday next offseason.
The 49ers could jump to the front of the line of Burns' market by trading for him and signing him to a long-term deal.
Carolina will probably set a high price tag for Burns in the offseason because of the impact he could make anywhere in the league.
The 49ers could ship the No. 64 overall pick to Carolina in exchange for Burns. They would still have nine other draft picks in their possession after that.
A Burns trade may cost more draft capital than the 49ers want to spend, but they have to keep their roster loaded with defensive stars to maintain their position atop the NFC.
