Cowboys Rumors: Aden Durde Discussed Seahawks DC Role amid Talks to Replace Dan Quinn

As the Dallas Cowboys still try to find a new defensive coordinator to replace Dan Quinn, one of their candidates is also up for the same role with the Seattle Seahawks.

Per ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde met with the Seahawks this week about their vacancy at defensive coordinator.

Fowler noted that Durde is also being considered by Dallas for the job.

In addition to Durde, the Cowboys are considering former Commanders head coach Ron Rivera and Mike Zimmer as options to replace Quinn.

Per Calvin Watkins of the Dallas Morning News, Rivera had his interview on Monday and Zimmer met with the club on Tuesday. Durde also spoke with the Cowboys this week.

The Seahawks have undergone their first significant changes across the coaching staff since 2010 when Pete Carroll was originally hired as head coach. He was replaced this offseason by Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald.

Macdonald has yet to hire either an offensive or defensive coordinator. He told reporters during his introductory press conference last week that he will be the defensive play-caller.

Durde has spent the past three seasons as the defensive line coach in Dallas. He previously worked with the Atlanta Falcons from 2018 to '20 on Quinn's coaching staff.

Prior to his work as an assistant coach in the NFL, Durde was a defensive coordinator for the London Warriors in England's BAFA National League.

The Cowboys lost Quinn after three seasons when he took over as head coach of the Washington Commanders last week. He leaves big shoes to fill with the defense finishing in the top seven in points allowed per game in each of his three years, including fifth in 2023.

Durde's history with the Cowboys and head coach Mike McCarthy would allow them to keep some continuity on that side of the ball, but the Seahawks could present a strong alternative if he wants to branch out at this stage of his career.
