Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes Praises Caitlin Clark, Calls Her One of Best CBB Players Ever
Iowa Hawkeyes star Caitlin Clark is on the verge of becoming the NCAA's all-time leading scorer in women's basketball history, and she earned high praise for Kansas City Chiefs star quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
"Just a tremendous player, a tremendous person," Mahomes told reporters as he prepares for Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday. "I've met with her and talked, you can tell she loves the game, she loves playing at Iowa and she's gonna be one of the best college basketball players to ever play, and then she'll go to the NBA and dominate there as well."
Clark dropped 38 points to lead Iowa past Maryland on Saturday, and she's now just 66 points away from passing Kelsey Plum's record of 3,527. The No. 2-ranked Hawkeyes will face Penn State on Thursday and Nebraska on Feb. 11, putting Clark in line to potentially break the record on Super Bowl Sunday.
Mahomes might not get to watch Clark make history as he prepares to face the San Francisco 49ers. Still, greatness recognizes greatness, and Mahomes made it clear that he respects Clark's legendary career.
"Hopefully I never have to play her one-on-one because she'll for sure be getting buckets on me," Mahomes said.
