NBA Rising Stars Game 2024: Victor Wembanyama, Holmgren Highlight Rosters After Draft
The participants in the 2024 NBA Rising Stars Game were broken up into three seven-player teams on Tuesday following a draft led by honorary coaches in Hall of Famer Pau Gasol, WNBA legend Tamika Catchings and former Indiana Pacers star Jalen Rose.
Team Gasol is headlined by San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama and Charlotte Hornets rookie Brandon Miller, and Team Catchings is led by Orlando Magic forward Paolo Banchero and Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey.
Team Rose, meanwhile, boasts the likes of Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren and his teammate Jalen Williams.
The Rising Stars Game features the NBA's top rookies and sophomore players. A fourth team, coached by former Pacer Detlef Schrempf, will consist of some of the top NBA G League players.

Wembanyama, the No. 1 pick in the 2023 draft, is one of the top players set to suit up in the Rising Stars Game, and he could arguably be on an All-Star roster given his performance this year.
The Spurs rookie is averaging 20.4 points, 10.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 3.1 blocks in 44 games while shooting 46.2 percent from the floor and 30.1 percent from deep. His performance has been quite impressive, especially considering the Spurs sit last in the Western Conference with a 10-40 record.
Wembanyama has established himself among the frontrunners for the Rookie of the Year award, as has Holmgren, who missed the entire 2022-23 campaign with the Thunder due to a foot injury.
Wembanyama's numbers are better in terms of points, rebounds, assists and blocks, but Holmgren's shooting numbers are better and the Thunder rookie is also not called upon to carry the load like the Spurs rookie has had to do this year.
The 21-year-old is averaging 16.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.6 blocks in 50 games while shooting 53.3 percent from the floor and 38.6 percent from deep on an Oklahoma City team that sits first in the Western Conference with a 35-15 record.
Banchero, the reigning Rookie of the Year, has been one of the best sophomore players this year and has put together an impressive campaign, averaging 23.0 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 50 games while shooting 45.3 percent from the floor and 36.2 percent from deep.
The 21-year-old, who was the No. 1 pick in the 2022 draft, has helped the Magic to seventh in the Eastern Conference with a 27-23 record. They're on pace to make the playoffs for the first time since the 2019-20 campaign.
