Video: Cody Rhodes Thanks WWE Fans amid The Rock, Roman Reigns, WrestleMania Rumors

Cody Rhodes showed appreciation for his fans Monday night in a heartfelt promo after WWE Raw went off the air.

Amid the WWE Universe chanting "We want Cody" following his win over Shinsuke Nakamura in a bullrope match, an emotional Rhodes addressed his admirers:

"Those three words," Rhodes said. "Well, all I can say is this: Since I was a little boy who grew up loving everything, for you to want me is special because I have always wanted you."

Rhodes, who won his second consecutive men's Royal Rumble match on Jan. 27, has received a groundswell of support from a large portion of the WWE fanbase in recent days, ever since he seemingly stepped aside from his goal of "finishing the story" against Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 to make room for returning WWE legend The Rock on Friday's episode of SmackDown.

Rhodes won last year's men's Royal Rumble match and went on to challenge Reigns for the undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 39, but he lost due to interference from Solo Sikoa.

Over the past year, Rhodes has often talked about "finishing the story" by beating Reigns for the title that his dad, WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes, came close to winning, but never could.

After Rhodes won his second consecutive Royal Rumble match, he pointed at Reigns, which seemed to signal that a rematch at WrestleMania 40 was a certainty.

However, just when it seemed as though Rhodes was going to make his match against Reigns official for WrestleMania on SmackDown, Cody said he would not face Reigns at WrestleMania, and The Rock made his arrival.

The Rock had made a surprise return to WWE a few weeks earlier and name-dropped "The Head of the Table." He was later named to the TKO board of directors, entrenching him in WWE.

No match was made official for WrestleMania, but The Rock confronting Reigns led most fans to assume that the clash between real-life cousins was an inevitability at WrestleMania 40.

In the days that followed, fans chanted for Rhodes at live events and made #WeWantCody trend for multiple days on X.

On Monday's Raw, Rhodes addressed world heavyweight champion Seth Rollins, but once again, no match was officially announced.

It was strongly suggested that the situation involving Rhodes, Reigns and The Rock will be sorted out Thursday at the WrestleMania press conference in Las Vegas, as all three men will be present.

Fans have been taken on something of a roller coaster ride in recent days and aren't exactly sure what to expect, but they have made it clear that many of them are behind the idea of Cody finishing the story by beating Reigns at WrestleMania 40.
