Chiefs' Travis Kelce Praises 49ers' George Kittle as NFL's Top TE Ahead of Super Bowl

Travis Kelce had high praise for fellow tight end George Kittle ahead of the Super Bowl matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers.

"The king of Tight End U, man," Kelce said. "He's the best tight end in the league, and deservingly so this year. He's been playing lights out, playing the best football of his career and really catapulting that San Fran team through the playoffs. I couldn't be more proud of him, couldn't be more honored to go up against George in another Super Bowl. Can't say enough amazing things about who he is as a guy and who his family is. Can't say a bad thing about him, man."

The matchup featuring two of the league's best tight ends will be a rematch of Super Bowl LIV, when the Chiefs came out on top 31-20. In that game, Kelce won the individual battle, notching 43 receiving yards and a touchdown while Kittle had 36 receiving yards.

This year, Kittle pulled in 65 receptions for 1,020 yards and six touchdowns, and Kelce had 984 yards and five touchdowns.

Both Kelce and Kittle have had impressive careers so far and have made their mark as two of the best tight ends year in and year out.

Since coming into the league in 2013, Kelce has recorded 11,328 receiving yards and 74 touchdowns, already jumping to No. 4 on the all-time receiving yards by a tight end list. Kittle, who was drafted in 2017 out of Iowa, has picked up 6,274 yards and 37 touchdowns for his career and is climbing the ladder of the all-time great tight ends.

But Kittle lacks something that Kelce has, which is a Super Bowl ring. This season, he'll look to win his first and lead the 49ers to their first championship since 1994. San Francisco has been the most dominant team in the NFC this season, getting past the Green Bay Packers and the Detroit Lions to reach the Super Bowl. Now, they'll face the AFC champs with hopes of winning it all.
