Neymar Rips Critics of His Fitness After Injury in NSFW Video: 'Suck It, Haters'

Adam WellsJan 31, 2024

Neymar sent a clear message to people who criticized his physique in a collection of pictures that were taken when he attended Romário's 58th birthday party over the weekend.

The posts made it back to the Brazilian superstar, who posted a video on his Instagram Stories on Tuesday that addressed the criticism.

"Finished training today," he said (h/t Adriana Garcia of ESPN.com). "I've put on beauty weight. But fat? No, I guess not!"

The video wraps up with Neymar giving a middle finger to the camera and saying: "Suck it, haters."

The 31-year-old has been out of action since Oct. 18 when he ruptured his ACL in the first half of Brazil's 2-0 loss to Uruguay in a World Cup qualifier. While the original pictures did make it appear like he's put on some mass compared to what he usually looks like, fans went overboard with their reactions to his physique.

There were some outlets that noted people were making fake images of Neymar that made him appear to be much bigger than he actually is.

It's also worth pointing out that when you rupture an ACL, you can't exercise in the same way you used to until it's fully healed. He's not yet three full months removed from having surgery to repair the injury, which also included fixing his meniscus.

The ACL injury came seven months after Neymar had surgery on his ankle. By the time he gets back to exercising at full strength, he will almost certainly work his way back into peak condition.

Even if he doesn't, who cares? Exercise can be really taxing and eating junk food is fun. He's been a professional since he was 17 years old. Let him live however he wants, haters.
