The brother of Hall of Famer Pau Gasol, Marc began his career with FC Barcelona and CB Girona in Spain before joining the Memphis Grizzlies in 2008. He spent his first 11-plus seasons in Memphis, winning Defensive Player of the Year in 2013 and earning three All-Star selections.

The Grizzlies traded Gasol to the Toronto Raptors midway through the 2018-19 season, and he played a pivotal role in bringing the franchise its first NBA championship. He returned to Toronto for the 2019-20 season before signing with the Lakers in free agency during the 2020 offseason.

The Lakers sent Gasol back to Memphis in September 2021, and the Grizzlies waived him five days later, allowing him to return to Spain to finish out his professional career. Gasol founded Bàsquet Girona in 2014, and his presence in the lineup helped the club move up to Spain's first division in 2022-23.

While the club has an uphill battle to compete with the best teams, Gasol has clearly made a mark and is ready to move on to the post-playing part of his career.

The Grizzlies plan to retire Gasol's No. 33 at a future ceremony.

Gasol finished his NBA career with averages of 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game.
