NBA Rumors: Bogdan Bogdanović Not Expected to Be Traded by Hawks at 2024 Deadline
The Atlanta Hawks are reportedly expected to retain Bogdan Bogdanović beyond next week's trade deadline despite a desire to shed long-term salary.
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype reported the Hawks front office views the sharpshooter as a core member of the roster. Bogdanović is playing on a reasonable four-year, $68 million contract and has knocked down 3.1 threes per game this season.
The Hawks have been shopping guard Dejounte Murray ahead of the deadline. The Los Angeles Lakers have been heavily linked to a trade for Murray, but it appears no traction on a deal currently exists.

Bogdanović would likely net Atlanta a first-round pick if he was made available ahead of the deadline. Teams can always use the floor spacing, and the 31-year-old can create for himself and others in space as a secondary ball handler.
That said, it appears the Hawks are viewing their current status as retooling rather than rebuilding. They've been searching for the right mix of talent next to Trae Young ever since their 2021 Eastern Conference Finals run and haven't found it. Their recent two-game winning streak pushed them to 20-27 on the season, putting them 0.5 games ahead of the Brooklyn Nets for the final Play-In Tournament spot.
Trading Bogdanović or Murray would be waving the white flag on a potential fourth straight playoff appearance. Contenders interested in either of the guards would focus their offers on expiring contracts and draft picks rather than players who would help Atlanta win now.
