Derrick White Hyped as NBA All-Star By Fans as Jayson Tatum, Celtics Beat Pacers
Boston Celtics guard Derrick White continues to make his case to be selected as a reserve for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game.
White helped lead the Celtics to a 129-124 win over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night at TD Garden as Boston improved to 37-11 on the season and 22-2 at home.
While Jayson Tatum finished with 30 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, one steal and one block, White's play down the stretch was equally important, as he notched 24 points, two rebounds, five assists, one steal and one block in the win.
The 29-year-old's block came at a crucial point in the fourth quarter. With the Celtics up 127-124, White blocked a three-point shot attempt by former Celtic Aaron Nesmith that would have tied the game had it gone in.
White, who is having a career year, has been an important member of Boston's championship-caliber lineup all season, and fans continue to hype him up as an All-Star with the game right around the corner:
White entered Tuesday's game averaging 15.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists in 43 games while shooting 45.6 percent from the floor and 39.6 percent from deep.
While his numbers might not be as eye-popping as those of some of the other All-Star candidates, White also brings a level of defensive excellence that is unmatched.
The 2024 All-Star Game is set for Feb. 18 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indiana. The All-Star reserves will be announced Thursday.
