Raiders' Maxx Crosby Undergoes Surgery on Hand Injury After Recent Knee Surgery

Timothy RappJan 30, 2024

Las Vegas Raiders superstar edge-rusher Maxx Crosby shared on Instagram that he underwent surgery on his right hand Tuesday.

It's already been a busy offseason for Crosby on the surgical front, as he played through a bursa injury this past season and had surgery on his knee two weeks ago.

None of the injury issues Crosby dealt with throughout the year derailed his productivity.

He's a finalist for Defensive Player of the Year and earned his third Pro Bowl nod after registering 90 tackles (23 for loss, which led the NFL), 14.5 sacks, 31 quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, two passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 17 games.

But he wasn't just effective getting after the passer. As Peter King of Pro Football Talk wrote last week, Crosby had "42 run stops and 18 run stuffs (rushers tackled for zero or negative yards). Played every snap in 10 Raider games this year, a rarity; four other players with one each were the only others to do that. Had more overall pressures (94) than Garrett and Watt."

Put simply, he's emerged as one of the NFL's most impactful defensive players. But individual stats aren't enough for Crosby, who is ready to win now.

"I've made the playoffs one time in five years. It's bulls--t," he told reporters in early January while campaigning for Antonio Pierce to keep the head-coaching position in Las Vegas. "And we've got to figure out what we're going to do moving forward. And I'm sick of change. I'm sick of losing. I just want stability and f--king consistency, and that's all that matters to me. I want to win."

So long as Crosby can stay healthy, the Raiders will have a chance. He's become one of the league's most feared presences off the edge.
