NFL Rumors: Kellen Moore to Interview for Eagles, Browns OC Jobs After Chargers Stint

As Jim Harbaugh prepares to hire coaches he wants to join him on the Los Angeles Chargers staff, Kellen Moore will be allowed to speak with other teams looking for a new offensive coordinator.

Per NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the Philadelphia Eagles and Cleveland Browns have put in requests to interview Moore.

The 35-year-old Moore spent the 2023 season as the Chargers' offensive coordinator. He joined Brandon Staley's staff in January 2023 after five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.

This is a notable change from the Chargers, who reportedly blocked a request from the Chicago Bears to interview Moore earlier this week.

Harbaugh's deal does give the team a clear direction going forward, as opposed to the uncertainty hovering over everything before they got a new head coach.

Per Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2, Harbaugh's staff in Los Angeles could include Greg Roman as offensive coordinator, Jesse Minter as defensive coordinator and Jay Harbaugh as special teams coordinator.

Roman has six years of experience working with Harbaugh. He was Stanford's associated head coach for two seasons from 2009 to '10 before being named San Francisco 49ers offensive coordinator when Harbaugh was hired as their head coach for the 2011 season.

The Browns are looking for a new offensive coordinator after Alex Van Pelt was dismissed. Van Pelt held the position since 2020 when he was hired by head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Philadelphia is bringing back Nick Sirianni as head coach, but will otherwise be changing most of the key staff members around him. Sean Desai, Matt Patricia and Brian Johnson aren't returning in 2024.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Thursday that Vic Fangio is traveling to Philadelphia to sign a deal that will make him the team's new defensive coordinator.

The Eagles offense ranked a respectable seventh in points per game this season, but Sirianni admitted they got "stale" by the end of the year. They were held to fewer than 20 points in five of their final seven games, including a 32-9 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card round.

During Moore's four seasons as Cowboys offensive coordinator from 2019 to '22, they finished in the top six in points scored three times. The only outlier season was 2020 when Dak Prescott only played five games due to a leg injury.
