Devin Booker Electrifies NBA Fans as Kevin Durant, Suns Beat Luka Dončić, Mavs
Devin Booker scored 22 of his 46 points in the third quarter en route to leading the Phoenix Suns to a 132-109 rout of the host Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday.
Things looked bleak for the Suns in the first half. Not only did Phoenix fall behind by as many as 16 points, but Booker briefly left for the locker room after the first quarter.
Thankfully, Booker returned in the second quarter, and he helped the Suns go on a 25-10 run to close the first half.
The third quarter was a Booker masterclass, however, as he caught absolute fire and even outscored the Mavs 22-20 in that frame.
By the time the third quarter was over, a 58-57 deficit turned into a 100-78 Suns lead. The fourth quarter was a formality as the Suns led big the whole way en route to the win.
Booker shot 17-of-23 and made 6-of-10 three-pointers. He added seven rebounds, and the Suns outscored the Mavs by 33 points with him on the floor. Kevin Durant added a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double.
For the Mavs, Luka Dončić led the way with 34 points, nine assists and eight rebounds. Kyrie Irving (right thumb sprain) did not dress.
This one was all about Booker, though, and fans and analysts praised his tremendous outing.
Booker and the Suns have now won seven straight games to move into a tie for fifth place with the New Orleans Pelicans at 26-18. The Suns will look to make it eight in a row on Friday when they visit the Indiana Pacers.
