NBA Trade Rumors: Suns' Grayson Allen Won't Be Moved Ahead of 2024 Deadline

Doric SamJan 24, 2024

The Phoenix Suns have received trade interest in shooting guard Grayson Allen, but the team reportedly has no plans of moving him this season.

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Allen "has played so well in Phoenix" that the Suns "are no longer considering him for a trade prior to next month's deadline."

Allen is in his first year in Phoenix after he was acquired as part of the three-team trade that sent star point guard Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers to the Milwaukee Bucks.

After struggling to find his footing in his first five seasons in the NBA with the Bucks, Utah Jazz and Memphis Grizzlies, Allen has settled into a solid role as a consistent contributor for the Suns. He's started all 38 games he's played this season and he's posted career highs across the board with 13.7 points, 4.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 50.7 percent shooting and 49.1 percent from three-point range.

Phoenix overcame a slow start to the season and found its groove recently. The Suns have won six straight games to improve to 25-18 entering Wednesday's matchup against the Dallas Mavericks. The team's Big 3 of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal is finally fully healthy together, allowing their chemistry to continue to improve.

While the three of them are the focal point of Phoenix's offensive attack, the team will need other players around them to produce consistently if it hopes to contend for a championship this season. That makes Allen's presence on the roster that much more important, as he has shown that he's capable of producing alongside the Suns' star trio.
