Eagles Rumors: OC Brian Johnson Fired from Sirianni's Staff; Colts OC Cooter Linked
Nick Siranni's top two assistants from the 2023 season won't be back with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Per NFL insider Derrick Gunn and Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, offensive coordinator Brian Johnson won't return to the Eagles in 2024.
McLane cited Indianapolis Colts offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter as a candidate for the job, but he's not considered a "top" choice.

The decision to move on from Johnson comes after NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Sirianni fired defensive coordinator Sean Desai.
All of these staff changes came amid speculation that Sirianni's job might be in jeopardy after the Eagles limped to the finish line this season.
They lost six of their final seven games, including a 32-9 defeat against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card round, after starting the season 10-1.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sirianni and general manager Howie Roseman will hold a joint end-of-season press conference on Wednesday, with "all signs" indicating Sirianni will be back in 2024.
Desai's job status was very precarious for weeks after he lost play-calling duties to Matt Patricia going into Philadelphia's game against the Seattle Seahawks on Dec. 18.
The loss of coordinator Shane Steichen from the 2022 coaching staff led to a steep decline in production for the offense.
Johnson may not have been as likely to be dismissed as Desai, but he appeared to be on thin ice with how the season ended. The Eagles ranked a respectable seventh in points per game (28.1), but they were held under 20 points in five of their final seven games.
The playoff loss to the Bucs, in particular, was a low point for Johnson and the offense.
Jalen Hurts had as many interceptions this season as he did in the previous two years combined (15). He averaged the fewest rushing yards per attempt (3.9) of his career.
Cooter worked with Steichen on the Colts coaching staff this season. He previously served as offensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions from 2016 to '18. The 39-year-old worked as a consultant with the Eagles in 2021.
