Lakers' LeBron James Hypes Joel Embiid After 76ers Star Scores 70 Points vs. Spurs
Joel Embiid's ridiculous scoring effort caught the attention of LeBron James on Monday.
James took to social media to compliment the Philadelphia 76ers star for his 70-point outburst against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night.
Embiid's 70 points broke Wilt Chamberlain's record for the most points in franchise history. He is also just the ninth player in NBA history to have 70 or more points and one of three active players—Devin Booker (70), Donovan Mitchell (71) and Damian Lillard (71) are the others.
Not only did Embiid put up insane numbers, he was also efficient, shooting 24-of-41 from the field and 21-of-23 from the free-throw line. Surprisingly, he made just one three-pointer. He also picked up 18 rebounds on the night to add to a wild stat line.
His 70-point performance came in a 133-123 win over rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs. Wembanyama managed to put together a solid game, scoring 33 points and picking up seven rebounds, but his game will certainly be overshadowed by Embiid's.
