NBA Trade Rumors: 76ers Interested in Wizards' Tyus Jones Ahead of 2024 Deadline
The Philadelphia 76ers are expected to be one of the more active teams ahead of the Feb. 8 NBA trade deadline, as they look to build a contender around defending MVP Joel Embiid and up-and-coming star Tyrese Maxey.
They may look at smaller deals if huge splashes don't materialize, however.
According to Matt Moore of Action Network, "Outside of Daryl Morey's pragmatic value in acquiring as much star talent as possible, the Sixers are interested in backup point guard help. They have interest in the Wizards' Tyus Jones but are only willing to commit second-rounders for a starter in Washington looking for starter money this summer."
Jones, 27, is having an excellent season for the Washington Wizards, averaging career highs in points (12.5 PPG), assists (5.8 APG), field-goal percentage (51.3 percent) and three-point percentage (41.3 percent).
The Wizards (7-34) are floundering and should be embracing a complete rebuild, so players like Jones absolutely should be made available. He figures to be a popular option for contenders like the Sixers looking to bolster their backcourt depth.
