Dejounte Murray Trade Rumors: Warriors, Bucks, Spurs Join Lakers, 76ers Eyeing Star
As the NBA trade deadline draws nearer, the Atlanta Hawks are fielding interest for star guard Dejounte Murray from a slew of teams around the league, including some contenders.
According to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer, "The Hawks have had negotiations with the Los Angeles Lakers about Murray. The [Philadelphia 76ers], Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Detroit Pistons, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs have been mentioned as other teams with an interest."
The Hawks reportedly have a high asking price for Murray, as Pompey noted that they "want two first-round picks and a player of value included in a package" for him. With so many teams interested in acquiring him, there's a better chance of Atlanta getting what it demands by the Feb. 8 deadline.
Murray is the Hawks' second-leading scorer at 21.1 points per game and he's also adding 4.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 1.4 steals. He's been peaking at the perfect time with game-winning shots in each of his last two games, which would surely help his trade value.
The Hawks acquired Murray from the San Antonio Spurs prior to the 2022-23 season in exchange for Danilo Gallinari, three first-round picks and a pick swap. The deal unfortunately didn't pay off for Atlanta, as Murray's partnership with star point guard Trae Young was not as successful as the team had envisioned.
Murray has four years and $120 million remaining on his contract after this season, so the team that ends up acquiring him would be adding a franchise cornerstone who can be productive in the backcourt for the foreseeable future.
It will be interesting to see which team wins the Murray sweepstakes, as his next landing spot will surely have an impact on the playoff race this season and beyond.
