Australian Open 2024 Results: Instant Reactions to Sunday's Winners and Losers
The two remaining American title hopefuls at the 2024 Australian Open moved on with emphatic victories on Sunday.
Taylor Fritz delivered a statement in the men's singles draw with a four-set win over Stefanos Tsitsipas to reach his first Australian Open quarterfinal.
The No. 12 seed set up a blockbuster clash with top seed Novak Djokovic in the final eight.
Gauff continued her dominance in the women's singles draw with her fourth consecutive straight-set win.
The 2023 U.S. Open has now won 11 straight Grand Slam matches. That streak will likely be extended to 12 to set up a potential semifinal battle with No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka.
Sabalenka has the tougher quarterfinal match ahead of her, though, as she will battle with the only other top 10 seed left in the women's singles draw.

Taylor Fritz Beats Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sets Up Clash with Novak Djokovic
2 of 3
Fritz earned the biggest breakthrough of his career in Melbourne with his four-set triumph over Tsitsipas.
The 26-year-old picked up a vital first-set tiebreak win and then displayed his bounce-back ability to win the third and fourth sets after he dropped the second set.
Fritz's win over the seventh-seeded Greek earned the first Australian Open quarterfinal appearance of his career and third-career Grand Slam quarterfinal spot.
The No. 12 seed has been in terrific form over the last few months. He also reached his first U.S. Open quarterfinal last fall.
Fritz now has an opportunity to avenge his U.S. Open quarterfinal defeat to Djokovic in Australia.
Djokovic owns an 8-0 record against Fritz. Two of those victories occurred at hard-court majors.
Djokovic wasted no time getting into the final eight on Sunday, as he lost just three games in his straight-set win over Adrian Mannarino.
The 10-time Australian Open champion played his best tennis of the tournament on Sunday, so it will take the best effort of Fritz's career to down the No. 1 seed.
Coco Gauff Cruises into Quarterfinals
3 of 3
Gauff has been nothing but dominant down under.
The fourth-seeded American picked up her fourth straight two-set win on Sunday over Magdalena Frech.
Gauff is becoming used to featuring at this stage of Grand Slam tournaments.
She now has five Grand Slam quarterfinal appearances on her resume across three majors. Wimbledon is the only tournament in which she lacks a final-eight spot.
Gauff has not lost a Grand Slam match since the first round of Wimbledon and that run should at least extend one more match.
Marta Kostyuk, one of five unseeded players left in the women's draw, is next up for the American teenager. Gauff beat Kostyuk in their only head-to-head meeting in 2022.
Another quick match is required for Gauff so that she can be properly rested for a potential battle with Sabalenka.
Sabalenka needs to beat No. 9 seed Barbora Krejcikova to set up the most anticipated match of the tournament on the women's side.
Sabalenka has also not lost a set in Melbourne and she holds a 5-1 career record against Krejcikova.
