The Hawks have been keen on trading the former All-Star as his fit in the backcourt with All-NBA point guard Trae Young has been awkward. The front office is already discussing the framework of potential trades with opposing teams such as the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic.
Atlanta sits at 17-23 nearly halfway through the regular season, owning the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks could trade Murray and retool the roster around Young, who is still just 25 years old.
Despite the team's disappointing performance, Murray has excelled individually. He's averaging 21.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the field.
However, a trade with Miami may not be in the cards despite the apparent mutual interest between both parties. Per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, there is some "skepticism" within the organization that the front office will discuss the framework of a deal with the Hawks.
