Former Warriors GM Bob Myers: Danny Ainge Once Called About Stephen Curry Trade
Stephen Curry playing alongside Jayson Tatum on the Boston Celtics would have been quite the sight to see.
Former Celtics executive Danny Ainge at least tried to make it happen.
During an appearance on ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski's podcast, former Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers said Ainge once called about a potential Curry trade (11:50 mark).
"We laughed," Myers said "... We had a good relationship, so it was funny."
Curry on any other team seems difficult to imagine at this point.
He is a Warriors legend who has been with the club that drafted him in 2009 throughout his entire career. His Golden State resume includes four championships, an NBA Finals MVP, two league MVPs, two scoring titles, nine All-NBA selections, nine All-Star nods and a spot on the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team.
Curry is one of the best players in NBA history and arguably the greatest Warrior in franchise history. He will surely have a statue built with his jersey in the rafters at some point during his retirement.
So it's a good thing for Golden State fans that Myers didn't even entertain trading him to the Celtics.
