Raiders' Maxx Crosby Posts Photo After Having Surgery on Knee Injury

Maxx Crosby didn't waste a lot of time in the offseason before undergoing surgery on his knee.

After NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported Crosby underwent knee surgery to address an injury he dealt with since Week 2 of the 2023 campaign, the pass-rusher posted a picture of himself that seemed to indicate the procedure was a success:

The knee surgery won't be it for this offseason, as Grant Gordon of NFL.com noted Crosby said on his podcast he will also undergo thumb surgery ahead of the 2024 season.

Despite the setbacks, the Eastern Michigan product appeared in all 17 games for the Raiders this season. He finished with 90 tackles, a league-best 23 tackles for loss, a career-best 14.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, two passes defended and one fumble recovery.

He earned a third straight Pro Bowl nod as a result and led the league in tackles for loss for the second straight season.

Any type of surgery or injury is going to turn heads when it comes to Crosby, as his durability is a defining part of his game. He is yet to miss a regular-season contest since the Raiders selected him with a fourth-round pick in the 2019 NFL draft.

He will likely be ready to go at the start of the 2024 campaign given the timeframe of the mid-January surgery.

The question now is who will be coaching him in Las Vegas.

Interim coach Antonio Pierce went 5-4 in the final nine games after the Raiders fired Josh McDaniels and clearly made an impression on the players. In fact, Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported that Crosby expressed "he will explore a trade request if Pierce isn't retained."

As of Wednesday, Las Vegas hasn't made a decision in its coaching search.
