Sataoa Laumea is a four-year starter inside Utah's shotgun-based, run-first (63-37 run-pass split), zone-based scheme with 44 consecutive starts split between right tackle (25) and right guard (19), including 12 starts at right tackle in 2023. Laumea is a thick, stoutly built blocker with good athletic ability and heavy hands.

Laumea wins as a zone run-blocker with very good initial quickness and heavy hands to close space on his target before delivering knock-back power to create displacement on front-side base/angle-drive blocks and cut off the back side. From there, he has the body control to rework himself and stay attached to secure rush lanes, along with the burst to get out on the move and intersect smaller targets. He will get into trouble against slippery, evasive defenders due to his tendency of leaning into contact and a bad habit of overshooting his landmark on the front side, creating easy penetration across his face.

In pass protection, Laumea is a fluid, loose mover, which allows him to get to his spots under control. His stiff, jarring punch and stout anchor help him win most on jump sets and against power moves. He struggles to consistently vary and time his strikes, leading with two-hand hands or being late with his outside hand, leaving him susceptible to quick, clean losses across his face or against the cross-chop technique. That was pronounced inside at guard at the Senior Bowl.

Overall, Laumea is a thick, stoutly built blocker with twitch, fluid movements and heavy hands who often plays with an overaggressive, frenetic style that leads to clean, glaring losses across his face. Laumea offers core starting guard traits to work with, but after 44 collegiate starts and the same struggles to connect on target consistently showing up in at the Senior Bowl, he appears to have engrained some bad habits.

That should land him as a depth/spot starter who can stick in a lineup if a coach can cue and instill more tact and patience in his game.
