Report: EA Sports College Football Game Doesn't Have Release Date amid July 12 Rumors
Rumors circulated Tuesday that the EA Sports College Football Game will be released on July 12, but that date isn't set in stone, according to college football journalist Matt Brown:
In November 2022, EA Sports vice president and general manager Daryl Holt told ESPN's Michael Rothstein that the video game would be released in the summer of 2024.
"That's the best date for us to bring the game that we think is going to meet or exceed our player expectations, and cover the breadth and scale of what we want in the game," Holt said. "We're trying to build a very immersive college football experience."
EA Sports developed a college football video game from 1993 to 2013, ending with NCAA Football 14. However, the NCAA did not renew its licensing deal with Electronic Arts, effectively ending the series.
Eleven years later, though, the series is making a comeback. The NCAA Football series was more or less a college football version of EA's Madden NFL video game, but it appears this game will look and feel different, according to Brown.
"I've been writing this basically ever since I first broke news about the game...EA does not want to just do a Madden reskin," Brown wrote. "They want the CFB game to be completely new IP."
