Tom Brady Says Packers' Win vs. Cowboys, Cold Weather Highlighted 'Magical Weekend'

Former NFL star Tom Brady thought Wild Card Weekend made for "great theater" to open the postseason.

"The playoffs come and it's not a best-of-seven series; it's one game," he said beginning at the 2:04 mark in the newest episode of his Let's Go! podcast. "When you have a team that just plays incredible, man, you better play incredible. And if you do, it'll be a little bit like the Rams game. The Rams actually played really well too.

"You're watching this game and you go, 'This is what it's all about.' It's guys in the big moments being at their best. And when a team's at their best, like the Packers were yesterday, it'd been hard for many teams to beat the Packers yesterday. And the Cowboys were just in the way."

Brady also referenced the adverse conditions in Kansas City, Missouri, and Orchard Park, New York, as providing another dynamic to the action. He said it all created "a magical weekend of football."

The Wild Card Round was certainly rich with narrative.

The Detroit Lions earned their first win since the 1991 season. Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love had what is potentially a star-making performance after throwing for 272 yards and three touchdowns. The Dallas Cowboys, Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers all suffered defeats that raised big questions ahead of the offseason.

Then there was the bad weather, which is always a staple in the NFL playoffs. The temperatures were so cold in Kansas City they apparently led to Patrick Mahomes' helmet cracking after a hit.

The remaining postseason rounds have a high bar to clear.
