Video: Lakers' LeBron James Trolls Eagles as Fight Song Plays After Bucs Loss

Mike ChiariJan 16, 2024

Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James seemed to troll the Philadelphia Eagles following their 32-9 blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card Round of the playoffs on Monday night.

While speaking to the media after the Lakers' 112-105 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Eagles' fight song was playing in the background, and James sang along with it for a moment before mimicking the well-known trombone sound effect typically associated with a loss or failure of some kind:

Despite being the road team and losing five of their final six regular-season games, the Eagles were favored to beat the Bucs on Monday after going to the Super Bowl last season, but they were outclassed and saw their season end far sooner than most expected.

LeBron was once an unabashed supporter of the Dallas Cowboys, who are the Eagles' chief rival, so it is fair to wonder if King James reveled in the fact that the Eagles were thoroughly dominated by the Bucs.

However, James made it clear last year that he was no longer a Cowboys fan, choosing instead to support the Cleveland Browns:

Since James is from Akron, Ohio, and played 11 seasons for the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Browns are essentially his hometown team.

Both the Cowboys and Browns suffered the same fate as the Eagles this season, though, as the Cowboys fell 48-32 to the Green Bay Packers in the NFC Wild Card Round and the Browns lost 45-14 to the Houston Texans in the AFC Wild Card Round.

Although it wasn't a great week for James' NFL rooting interests, he and the Lakers scored one of their biggest wins of the season Monday.

After losing back-to-back games to fall to two games below .500, James and the Lakers faced a Thunder team that is second in the Western Conference at 27-12.

L.A. largely held Thunder stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren in check, and LeBron racked up 25 points, seven rebounds and six assists in the victory.

That brought the Lakers' record to 20-21, placing them 10th in the Western Conference, percentage points ahead of the Houston Rockets.
