Duke Commit Cooper Flagg Excites CBB Fans With 2024 Hoophall Classic Performance
2024 No. 1 player Cooper Flagg and his No. 1 Montverde Academy Eagles have not had too many close games this season.
However, a matchup against California's Prolific Prep, the No. 3 team in the nation, was set to be very different. It matched Flagg up against A.J Dybantsa and Tyran Stokes, the top players in the classes of 2025 and 2026 respectively, and was on a grand stage at the 2023 HoopHall Classic in Springfield, MA.
It was certainly closer but Prolific Prep could not do enough to take down the Eagles as Flagg and Montverde emerged victorious by a score of 76-71.

Flagg had a strong day, scoring 15 points while picking up 10 rebounds, five blocks and two steals. He had several highlight-reel plays and made numerous defensive stops down the stretch that helped secure the victory.
Basketball fans took to social media to celebrate the intense game and celebrate Flagg's potential heading into his freshman year at Duke.
The win improved Montverde Academy to 19-0 on the season and further solidified the team's standing as the top team in the nation.
Flagg's strong showing should be of extra interest to Duke supporters and could be an early look into how strong the team can be in the 2024-25 season. Flagg headlines a recruiting class that is ranked No. 1 in the nation and will join a team that is already off to a 13-3 start to the season.
