Lakers' Anthony Davis, Celtics' Jaylen Brown Among Stars Now Ineligible to Be Traded

With the final group of free agents signed over the summer now eligible to be traded, only a select few veteran players remain ineligible to be traded across the NBA.

Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis, Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown, New York Knicks guard Josh Hart and Los Angeles Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard are now among the veterans not eligible to be traded due to their extension status.

Davis, Hart and Leonard are ineligible because they signed a contract extension of at least three years and/or with a raise of greater than five percent within the last calendar year. Brown is ineligible because he signed a designated veteran extension.

The NBA created these trade restrictions so that teams could not sign players to long-term extensions and then immediately trade them days or months later.

Davis' trade restriction lifts Feb. 6, two days before the Feb. 8 deadline, but the Lakers have no interest in moving on from their All-Star big. Brown, Hart and Leonard are also mainstays in their current organizations and won't be finding themselves on the market any time soon.

Leonard's teammate, Paul George, may be the next player to monitor in extension talks. George can become a free agent this summer but is widely expected to remain in Los Angeles, and the Clippers are motivated to lock him up.

"With the conversation that I have with them about it, I think for the most part everybody is coming back," Leonard told reporters when discussing his extension. "So, with me signing the extension, I think it gives us a chance to sign both of those players."

James Harden could also wind up inking a new deal to stay in Los Angeles in the coming weeks.
