The celebration of Carroll's career came following Wednesday's announcement that Carroll is out as the Seahawks head coach after 14 seasons. Though he won't be Seattle's coach next season, Carroll is expected to remain with the team in an unspecified advisory role.
During his tenure as Seattle's coach, Carroll led the team to the playoffs 10 times. He—along with Wilson—led the Seahawks to their only Super Bowl victory in franchise history, beating the Denver Broncos in 2013.
The Seahawks have not had the same success in recent years, however. This season, Seattle missed the playoffs for the second time in three years following a 9-8 finish.
As the Seahawks search for Carroll's successor, he will be a part of the process in his new advisory role. He also mentioned Wednesday that he is unsure if he will seek another head coaching role.
For now, Carroll will continue to enjoy the celebration of a storied head coaching career.
