Bengals Rumors: Brian Callahan to Interview with Chargers, Falcons, Panthers, Titans

Adam WellsJan 11, 2024

Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan is set to interview with four different teams that have head-coaching vacancies.

Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Callahan will speak with the Tennessee Titans on Friday and the Los Angeles Chargers on Tuesday.

Rapoport also noted Callahan is scheduled to meet with the Carolina Panthers and Atlanta Falcons at some point.

Each of the teams Callahan is set to speak with has been busy requesting and scheduling interviews with potential candidates.

Aaron Glenn, Mike MacDonald, Mike Kafka, Antonio Pierce and Dan Quinn are among the candidates the Titans want to interview.

The Chargers will speak with in-house candidates Giff Smith and Kellen Moore, as well as Quinn, Steve Wilks, Raheem Morris, Ben Johnson and Leslie Frazier.

The Falcons could be setting their sights very high after firing Arthur Smith. They have had interest in Bill Belichick for "weeks," per The Athletic's Dianna Russini. Belichick and the New England Patriots are expected to part ways on Thursday.

Atlanta also has interview requests in for Wilks, Glenn, Johnson and Anthony Weaver. The Panthers would seemingly have to figure out who they are hiring to be their general manager before deciding on a head coach.

Chris Tabor, who finished the season as Carolina's interim head coach, interviewed with the team on Wednesday for the full-time position. Defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero is also expected to interview for the job.

Callahan has been Cincinnati's offensive coordinator since 2019 when Zac Taylor took over as head coach. In the two seasons that Joe Burrow hasn't missed significant time due to injuries, the Bengals ranked seventh in points per game in 2021 and 2022.

Before joining the Bengals staff, Callahan worked as a quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions (2016-17) and Oakland Raiders (2018). He also served as an offensive assistant for the Denver Broncos from 2010 to '15.
