2012 Pac-12 Football Schedule: Twitter Reacts to Next Season's Pac-12 Slate

Ryan RudnanskyJan 4, 2012

The Pac-12 released its 2012 football schedule on Wednesday and it predictably incited commotion across Twitter Land.

Next season will mark the first time every game of the conference will be broadcast nationally, due to a megadeal with ESPN and FOX.

One of the biggest games on the schedule that has caused a buzz is Oregon at USC on Nov. 3.

USC was ineligible to be placed in the rankings or go to a bowl game this season, but the Trojans nonetheless went 10-2 and ended their regular season with a 50-0 win over UCLA. Star quarterback Matt Barkley announced shortly thereafter that he would be returning for his senior season at USC.

As for Oregon, the Ducks had a sensational season, going 12-2 (only losses being to LSU and USC) and beating No. 10 Wisconsin, 45-38, in the Rose Bowl.

It's also worth noting that Cal, who went 7-6 this season and lost to Texas in the Holiday Bowl, will be the only Pac-12 team that gets a bye right before the Pac-12 title game, as John Breech of CBSSports.com tweets:

USC, Stanford and UCLA were also the only teams in the Pac-12 to not schedule an FCS team, as Lisa Horne of Fox Sports notes:

Portlander Kevin Parks brings up an interesting point:

USC will also be playing at Stanford on Sept. 15, a game that will boast two of the Pac-12's top teams but will be without Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck, who is expected to be selected No. 1 overall in the NFL draft this year.

However, apparently Jonathan Gripe of Santa Rosa, Calif., is, well, griping about Stanford's luck of the draw:

Sounds like it's going to be a wild season in the Pac-12, with Oregon and USC highlighting the chase for the Pac-12 crown.
