Tom Brady Praises Lamar Jackson's Intangibles Ahead of Playoffs: 'I Love Seeing It'

Scott PolacekJan 9, 2024

Lamar Jackson has earned plenty of praise throughout the season as the likely NFL MVP, including from the GOAT quarterback himself.

"I feel that way watching you play. I don't think you're ever out of it," Tom Brady told Jackson during the Baltimore Ravens star's appearance on the Let's Go! podcast (h/t Kevin Eck of the Ravens' official website).

"You've got the ability to inspire your teammates by your action, by your words, and your humility, and your toughness, and your courage. Not only your skill set—everybody can see that. To me, it's your intangibles that make you special. You're never gonna lose that. You just do more of that and you're gonna have incredible success. I love seeing it, man. Keep it up."

Jackson went 13-3 as a starter and completed 67.2 percent of his passes for 3,678 yards, 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions while adding 821 yards and five scores on the ground.

Yet the MVP performance will only dial up the pressure in the postseason, where the three-time Pro Bowler is just 1-3 as a starter.

"I definitely do have that chip on my shoulder," Jackson said. "I haven't accomplished what I wanted to yet, so that's why that chip is still on my shoulder. I want that Super Bowl. That's the accolade that I really want so bad. … I feel like we have the team to do it. We have the guys in the building, coaching staff, training staff, equipment guys, we got everything we need right now."

Baltimore is the No. 1 seed and has a first-round bye in the playoffs, so it does not yet know its next opponent.

But as long as Jackson plays like he did in the regular season, he will continue to prove doubters wrong and live up to the praise that Brady had ahead of the playoffs.
