Ben Askren Says He'd Come out of Retirement to Fight Jorge Masvidal at UFC 300
Ben Askren's retirement could be coming to an end if the right opportunity presents itself.
The 39-year-old said that he'd be willing to step back into the octagon under one specific circumstance, according to MMAFighting.com's Jed Meshew.
"Listen, if Dana called me and said, 'Jorge Masvidal, UFC 300,' I don't give a damn–I'm out of retirement," Askren said. "I'll fight him. I don't care. I would love to."
Jorge Masvidal, who retired eight months ago, suggested Monday that he's coming out of retirement, though he did not say when he will make his return. The two have met just once before, when Masvidal recorded the fastest knockout in UFC history at just five seconds, using a flying knee against Askren in 2019 at UFC 239.
Askren, who has a 19-2 record in MMA, ended his career with a pair of losses — to Masvidal and his final fight against Demian Maia. He announced his retirement in November 2019.
