Fire at Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill's Home Was Started by Child, Deemed 'Unintentional'

The fire at Tyreek Hill's Miami-area home on Wednesday afternoon was deemed an "unintentional, accidental" incident, Davie Fire Rescue said, according to Carolina Borges and Dannielle Garcia of WSVN-7 News Miami.

The fire was caused by a child playing with matches or a lighter, investigators said. It's unclear if the child involved was one of Hill's children.

The Miami Dolphins wide receiver left Wednesday's practice early after being alerted to the fire at his home. The team said in a statement that everyone was out of the house and safe at the time of the incident, according to 7 News Miami. No injuries have been reported.

Hill's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said in an interview with 7 News that the fire was limited to one room of the home. First responders had to knock out a portion of the roof to handle the fire, according to 7 News.

"It is very difficult for anybody, obviously, to have your home catch on fire, but Hill was handling it with as much poise as you can hope," Rosenhaus said.

Hill purchased the home in 2022 for $6.9 million, according to property records obtained by 7 News. It has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms, in addition to a pool and full-size basketball court.

Hill began his career with the Kansas City Chiefs in 2016 and was traded to the Dolphins ahead of the 2022 season.

The 29-year-old has been a key figure in the Miami offense alongside Tua Tagovailoa, Jaylen Waddle and Raheem Mostert this season. Through 15 games, he has caught 112 passes for 1,717 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Dolphins are gearing up for their regular-season finale on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, and the winner of the matchup will determine the AFC East champion. Miami hasn't won the division since the 2008 campaign.
