NFL Futures Betting Odds 2023-24: Best Picks for MVP and Top Awards Before Week 18

Michelle BrutonJan 1, 2024

Just one week remains in the NFL regular season schedule, and while anything could happen in the Week 18 slate of games, the standout players of this season have made themselves known. In so doing, they've also staked their claims to the season's top awards.

The NFL MVP race has seen multiple players, many of them quarterbacks, moving up and down in the odds as their teams have amassed statement wins. But the Baltimore Ravens' Lamar Jackson may have ended any further discussion with the Ravens' lopsided victory over the Miami Dolphins in Week 17.

How the MVP vote turns out will in turn affect how voters determine Offensive Player of the Year, and there's also the defensive equivalent to consider. Let's take a look at the frontrunners in each of these categories with the conclusions of the Week 17 slate.

MVP Odds

Lamar Jackson: -20000

Dak Prescott: +1800

Brock Purdy: +3000

Josh Allen: +3500

Christian McCaffrey: +4000

When the San Francisco 49ers were riding a six-game win streak, quarterback Brock Purdy was the MVP favorite. But losing a crucial game to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 16 saw Purdy fall in the MVP odds...while Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson rose to become the new favorite.

Jackson all but sealed his second MVP award on Sunday with the Ravens' 56-19 win over the Miami Dolphins. His five touchdowns and perfect passer rating were impressive enough to garner their own headlines, even though the Ravens also clinched the AFC North and No. 1 seed in the AFC playoffs.

Quarterbacks Dak Prescott and Josh Allen and running back Christian McCaffrey have also kept their names in the MVP conversation as we end the regular season, but Jackson has risen to another tier.

OPOY Award Odds

Christian McCaffrey: -340

Tyreek Hill: +225

CeeDee Lamb: +1000

Josh Allen: +10000

Dak Prescott: +10000

Lamar Jackson: 10000

Unsurprisingly, many of the players who find themselves atop the odds for MVP are also top contenders for the Offensive Player of the Year award. But some would argue that the MVP has tacitly become the "Best Quarterback" award, while the OPOY award aims to recognize the best skill player outside of signal callers.

If that's the case, McCaffrey all but has OPOY locked up. He leads the league with 1,459 rushing yards on 272 carries and is third in rushing touchdowns, with 14.

Tyreek Hill had a real chance of locking down this award as he flirted with the prospect of hitting the 2,000-yard mark on the season. With one game left, he's at a league-leading 1,717 yards. Missed time this season has made that record difficult for Hill to reach, and as a result he's fallen in the OPOY discussion.

DPOY Award Odds

Myles Garrett: -240

Micah Parsons: +250

T.J. Watt: +380

Maxx Crosby: +5000

Nick Bosa: +7500

The Cleveland Browns made headlines on Thursday night when they clinched their playoff berth with their 37-20 victory over the New York Jets. That win, and many others this season, was attributable in large part to edge rusher Myles Garrett.

Garrett has amassed 42 tackles, 14 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 blocked kick on the year so far.

While Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons has had an impressive season of his own with 13 sacks in 15 games, enough to make him a DPOY favorite as well, Garrett has moved into frontrunner position.
