NBA Rumors: The Charlotte Bobcats Need to Make a Play for Antawn Jamison

One thing the Charlotte Bobcats have never really done is make a splash in free agency.

That's a trend that likely will continue into the foreseeable future.

Charlotte just hasn't been an attractive spot for potential free agents to land.

If there's any way to build this team into a winner, it's likely going to have to be done through the draft and a few good deals.

Right now the Bobcats have a couple of major problems. They have trouble scoring and can't stop anyone from scoring on them.

It's been five games, and this team needs upgrading already.

They can look at one guy in particular who can give them a little bit of help in both departments.

One smart thing to do would be to take a run at Cleveland's Antawn Jamison. They might be able to nab Jamison for a cheap haul this season, but the unrestricted free agent would be a good fit in Charlotte next season definitely.

By no means is Jamison the answer, and he's aging,  but he's still an effective scorer—something the Bobcats desperately need.

Granted, the one spot that Charlotte has solid depth at is the 4, but Jamison would still be a good fit, even if he had to log minutes at the 3.

Here's a guy in Jamison that actually wants to play in Charlotte and could likely be had cheaper than the mid-level exemption.

Jamison is a pro—something a younger team needs.

Even if it meant going after him this season, he could help the Bobcats out a lot.
