NFL Futures Betting Odds 2023-24: Best Picks for Super Bowl 58 Entering Week 17
With only two weeks remaining in the NFL season, playoff clinching scenarios abound, as do shifts in Super Bowl futures odds.
Some teams that have been favorites to win the Lombardi Trophy all season have fallen down in the pecking order with poor recent recent play, including the two who featured in the most recent Super Bowl: the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.
Other teams that have gotten hot at the right time, on the other hand, have seen their odds increase favorably. And many of the teams most favored to win it all in February play each other in the final two weeks of the season, making for compelling storylines.
Let's take a look at the three teams with the best Super Bowl odds heading into Week 17.
San Francisco 49ers
1 of 3
Super Bowl odds: +230
San Francisco may have snapped a six-game win streak in Week 16, falling to the Baltimore Ravens 33-19, but Vegas hasn't dramatically shifted the 11-4 49ers' Super Bowl odds. The 49ers' odds of +230 heading into Week 17 are almost unchanged from this time last week (+220).
This 49ers squad is a potent and balanced team at the height of its powers, and a stumble in the form of a loss to Baltimore isn't a sign of trouble. After all, the Ravens themselves were enjoying a four-game undefeated streak before they met the 49ers and are the league's best team, at 12-3. Brock Purdy's four interceptions in the game are uncharacteristic and not a major reason for concern about the 49ers' Super Bowl chances.
In fact, that Week 16 matchup could have been our Super Bowl LVIII preview. San Francisco can clinch the NFC's No. 1 seed and a first-round bye with wins in its final two games against the Washington Commanders and Los Angeles Rams, respectively.
Baltimore Ravens
2 of 3
Super Bowl odds: +370
We've gone over what San Francisco needs to do to clinch the top seed in the NFC to close out the season. The AFC-leading (and league-leading) Ravens have a more straightforward path: if Baltimore defeats the 11-4 Dolphins this week, it will earn the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye.
The Ravens looked phenomenal against San Francisco in Week 16, so much so that Lamar Jackson is now the odds-on favorite to be named NFL MVP (-190), with Brock Purdy's odds for that award dropping to +1200.
Baltimore's defense was also firing on all cylinders in Week 16. The Ravens intercepted Brock Purdy four times and held a 49ers team averaging 29.6 points per game (third-best in the league) to just 19.
San Francisco has to be considered a heavy favorite to win it all thanks in no small part to Christian McCaffrey, and Baltimore's running back room lost some firepower when Keaton Mitchell tore his ACL. But if the Ravens can dispatch the NFC's top team and the AFC's second-best team, the Dolphins, in back-to-back weeks, it's hard to imagine any squad giving them much trouble on the road to Super Bowl LVIII.
Miami Dolphins
3 of 3
Super Bowl odds: +800
There's a lot on the table for the Ravens in their Week 17 matchup with the Dolphins, but the game is equally important for Miami.
The Dolphins control their own destiny, with a chance to clinch their first AFC East title since 2008 outright with a win over Baltimore. Even if Miami loses, a New England Patriots win over the Buffalo Bills would secure the division crown for the Dolphins.
More importantly, a win over the Ravens would move the Dolphins into the driver's seat in the AFC, putting them on a path to claiming the No. 1 seed. (If Baltimore wins, however, it earns the top seed.)
Vegas would certainly perk up at that result, which Miami's Super Bowl futures odds would surely reflect this time next week.
