NFL MVP Race 2023-24: Latest Predictions After Updated Odds Entering Week 13
Entering Week 13, the NFL MVP Award race is as tight as it has been in recent years.
No one player has definitively established himself as the obvious winner, leaving an opportunity for any number of competitors to leapfrog their way to the front of the line and emerge as the most celebrated individual player of 2023.
Even rookie CJ Stroud, who has the Houston Texans battling not just for a playoff position, but the AFC South division title, has a chance to join Jim Brown as the only rookie to ever win the MVP.
Where does the electrifying young star out of Ohio State find himself in the updated odds and who should fans expect to see win the award by year's end?

Runner-Up: Jalen Hurts
2 of 3
The Philadelphia Eagles are 10-1 and as the face of the league's winningest team, Hurts is destined to be one of the most prominent MVP candidates.
Hurts has 18 passing touchdowns and 11 rushing touchdowns through 11 games and is the unquestioned leader of the defending NFC Champions. He brings a fire to the team that allows it to stay in any game and, as we saw in last year's Super Bowl, he has a penchant for saving his best performances for the biggest games.
The Eagles will have plenty of them down the stretch, with the next three coming against the 49ers, Cowboys, and Seahawks.
If he can lead his team to a 2-1 record through that slate, or even go unbeaten while not turning the ball over quite as much as he has to this point (13 total turnovers this season), it is not out of the question that he will be the undisputed frontrunner.
As of right now, though, there is a quarterback in Kansas City he is very familiar with who will make it very difficult to dethrone him as the league's best individual player.
2023 MVP: Patrick Mahomes
3 of 3
It was a slow start for the Kansas City Chiefs against the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 12 but Mahomes led his team to a come-from-behind victory that was never really as close as the 14-point deficit they found themselves in early on would suggest.
Mahomes completed 79.4 percent of his passes, with two touchdowns and no interceptions as the Chiefs rallied to a 31-17 victory.
It was the eighth game this season in which Mahomes has thrown two or more touchdowns and while his interception rate is uncharacteristically high, he has continued to set the standard for quarterback play in the league here in 2023.
Better yet, at least for his chances of winning a third league MVP award, is a favorable remaining six games in which he will have plenty of potential to tally some big numbers.
The Packers are by far the best passing defense that he will play for the rest of the regular season while the Patriots, Bills, Raiders, Bengals, and Chargers are all middle-of-the-pack or worse.
As we have seen in previous seasons, Mahomes can turn it on late and leave no question about who the best team, or player, is entering the postseason. Look for him to replicate that tendency and firmly establish himself as the favorite to repeat as MVP.
Keep an eye on the interceptions, though.
If he continues to hurl the ball to the other team, the race for the most prestigious individual award in the league becomes a toss up.
