Projecting Most Likely Heel and Face Turns at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023

Kevin BergeNov 23, 2023

WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2023 has a chance to be one of the biggest shows of the year. The crowd will be packed into Allstate Arena in Chicago to see a special night of action on Saturday.

WWE is hotter than it has been in decades, and the company's final premium live event of the year must maintain that momentum into 2024.

The best way to do that is to provide moments that will invest everyone in the future of WWE.

This year's pay-per-view has many possible opportunities for heel or face turns that will get the fans talking, from Rey Mysterio losing more friends to Damian Priest or Randy Orton leaving their WarGames teams high and dry.

The following are the most likely heel and face turns to come at Survivor Series: WarGames.

Face: Damian Priest

1 of 4

It's that same time each month when a member of The Judgment Day is tipped to turn face. At this point, all the signs indicate Damian Priest is most likely to make the switch.

The Punishment has positioned himself as the "leader" of the group, a title that has been disputed by everyone else in the group.

In particular, Rhea Ripley has not appreciated him labeling himself as being the one in control, and it looks like she may have convinced Drew McIntyre to join The Judgment Day to replace him.

The consequences of WarGames will likely force a change for The Judgment Day. Even though Priest still holds the Money in the Bank contract, he could be in serious trouble if the stable loses its battle inside the double cage on Saturday.

This breakup can only push The Archer of Infamy to greater heights in the long term, though.

Heel: Randy Orton

Fans have not seen Randy Orton since May 2022, so his future is decidedly uncertain.

While Cody Rhodes asked The Viper to join his group in WarGames, that does not mean he will stay on The American Nightmare's side.

Orton has always been a great rival for Rhodes. He also has history with Jey Uso, who is on the babyface team but was also the man who put him on the shelf with a back injury.

Throughout his career, The Viper has moved at his own pace and in his own way. It would certainly be an explosive end to Survivor Series if he did turn on his own team.

This would give The Judgment Day a definitive victory at its height while setting up Orton as the top heel in WWE once again.

Heels: Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro (and Zelina Vega)

3 of 4

After many teases, Santos Escobar finally turned heel by attacking Rey Mysterio on the Nov. 10 edition of SmackDown.

And he has set a challenge to all of LWO to choose the right side in this growing rivalry.

Escobar will especially want to bring back around his former Legado Del Fantasma stablemates in this feud. And Joaquin Wilde Wilde and Cruz Del Toro just make more sense at his side.

These two are fun to watch in the ring but have not made any impact on the main roster yet. A change back to the familiar could be the switch they need.

Escobar beat them down on SmackDown, but that could have easily been a red-herring moment to set up Carlito at Survivor Series. He is unlikely to expect the betrayal.

This also leaves Zelina Vega to choose her own side. Nothing is clear with her future. She has sold her love for Rey Mysterio and LWO, but could she have a change of heart?

If Vega stays on the side of Mysterio and Carlito, Escobar may turn to another former stablemate from NXT in Elektra Lopez.

Face: Bayley

4 of 4

Bayley originally created Damage CTRL as the stable that would change the direction of the women's division, but the group has outgrown her.

Iyo Sky is the SmackDown women's champion, Dakota Kai has found her confidence, and Kairi Sane and Asuka joined the group in November to work with them.

That leaves The Role Model on the outside looking in despite everyone declaring her still the leader.

If Bayley loses Damage CTRL the match at WarGames, it would leave her in an awkward position. She may be viewed as unnecessary by the other members.

It would be the first time in four years that fans get to see a babyface Bayley. She is ready for that opportunity again.
