College Football Picks Week 13: Odds, Predictions, Schedule, Rankings for Top 25

Joe TanseyNov 20, 2023

The most anticipated game of the 2023 college football season takes place inside Michigan Stadium on Saturday.

The Michigan Wolverines host the Ohio State Buckeyes in a Big Ten clash that will likely decide a College Football Playoff berth.

Michigan comes into Week 13 with a two-game winning streak over its long-time rival. Ohio State has not defeated the Wolverines since 2019. The 2020 matchup was cancelled.

Ohio State comes into Saturday with a higher spot in the AP Top 25 and off the better Week 12 performance, but Michigan is favored on the point spread.

Michigan has a clear way that it wants to play and the challenge for Ohio State is to slow down Blake Corum and the rushing attack.

Ohio State made significant improvements on defense since last year's 45-23 and Saturday will be the true test if any of those upgrades were worth.

Michigan-Ohio State is game everyone in college football will talk about for the next week, but there are other important Top 25 matchups on the schedule.

The Oregon Ducks need to beat the Oregon State Beavers at home to clinch a spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game. The point spread suggests the Ducks will have an easy time against their in-state foe.

Michigan gained the upper hand in its rivalry with Ohio State by getting tougher on the interior.

The Wolverines bullied the Buckeyes with their incredible ground production in the last two editions of the rivalry.

Michigan will try to bludgeon the Ohio State defense with 30-plus rushing plays behind Corum, who did not play much in last year's meeting.

Corum, who has a rushing touchdown in every game this season, will be vital to the Wolverines' success on home soil.

Ohio State owns the second-best scoring defense in the FBS behind Michigan, but it does allow 108.5 rushing yards per contest.

Michigan leads the FBS in total yards allowed per game at 234.8. Ohio State is third at 252.9 yards conceded per contest.

The Wolverines have a clear strategy to enforce their dominance with the ground game on offense and to keep Ohio State's offense out of a rhythm.

Michigan ran for 252 yards on 35 carries last season against Ohio State and it held the Buckeyes to three second-half points.

Corum, J.J. McCarthy and Co. know exactly how to beat Ohio State, and until the Buckeyes prove they caught up to Michigan's success on the ground, the Wolverines have to be favored in the rivalry.

Oregon is playing some of the best football in the country.

The Ducks are on a five-game winning streak in which they scored at least 35 points in every game.

Oregon ran right through the Arizona State Sun Devils defense last week to a 49-13 win in preparation for Friday's rivalry clash with Oregon State.

Bo Nix receives most of the national headlines from the Oregon program, but the Ducks' defense deserves a lot of credit for the dominant way in which they have won over the last month.

The Ducks held three of their last four opponents under 20 points and limited the Caleb Williams-led USC Trojans to 27 points two weeks ago.

Oregon State could be outmatched from the start in its second straight tough matchup in a row.

The Beavers put in a ton of effort into their home loss to the Washington Huskies and the fatigue from the brutal two-game stretch could catch up to them in the second half.

Oregon State will certainly be up for the rivalry contest in the first half, but no one competed with Oregon since it lost to Washington, and that trend should continue on Friday night inside Autzen Stadium.
