Heisman 2023 Odds: Tips on the Favorites and Best Values for Week 13

Joe TanseyNov 20, 2023

The 2023 Heisman Trophy race is one of the best competitions for the award in recent memory.

LSU Tigers quarterback Jayden Daniels is the betting favorite at DraftKings Sportsbook as of Monday morning.

Daniels leapfrogged Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix and Washington Huskies quarterback Michael Penix Jr. with his stat-padding performance in Week 12 against the Georgia State Panthers.

The LSU signal-caller has one final chance to impress Heisman voters in Week 13, but that could be a detriment to his Heisman campaign.

Penix at least has one more game after Week 13, and he could go head-to-head with Nix in the Pac-12 Championship Game.

One of three quarterbacks seems like the 2023 Heisman winner, but Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. will at least try to force his way into the conversation in Week 13.

Daniels proved over the last two weeks that he is the most explosive two-way player in the country.

The LSU quarterback threw for 785 yards and nine touchdowns and ran for 330 yards and four scores in that span.

Daniels rightfully padded his stats against Georgia State in Week 12. Some Heisman voters will see that as a cheap way to earn first-place votes, while others could make the case that Daniels did exactly what he was expected to do against a Sun Belt team.

Daniels has one more chance to impress Heisman voters against the Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday.

LSU's coaching staff should give Daniels every opportunity possible to showcase his talents. That should lead to another inflated stat line.

Daniels currently has 3,577 passing yards, 1,014 rushing yards and 46 total touchdowns.

Nix and Penix are elite throwers, but neither Pac-12 quarterback can come close to matching Daniels' output on the ground.

The time to bet Daniels was two weeks ago before he exploded for 600 total yards against the Florida Gators.

Nix and Penix are the quarterbacks to bet entering Week 13 because they will both play at least one more high-profile game.

An Oregon win over the Oregon State Beavers would set the Ducks up with a Pac-12 Championship Game showdown with Washington, a game that could decide some first-place Heisman votes.

The only value plays left on the Heisman odds board come from the Ohio State Buckeyes and Michigan Wolverines.

Harrison has the best chance to win the Heisman from either roster based on the current odds.

Ohio State's star pass-catcher needs a 150-to-200-yard showing with multiple touchdowns to make a large mark on the Heisman conversation.

Harrison would also need a massive game against the Iowa Hawkeyes in the Big Ten Championship Game to pad his resume in comparison with the three favored quarterbacks.

Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy was once near the top of the Heisman odds board, but he only has 201 passing yards in the last two weeks.

The lack of passing in Michigan's win over the Penn State Nittany Lions severely damaged McCarthy's Heisman hopes.

Wolverines running back Blake Corum may be worth a small flier as a long shot if Michigan employs the same run-first game plan against Ohio State.

Corum has multiple rushing touchdowns in each of his last three games and he is averaging 4.9 yards per carry.
