Arguably the best college football player in the country is headed to the next level.

Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. announced Thursday that he is entering his name in the 2024 NFL draft in an effort to follow his father's footsteps on the sport's biggest stage.

Harrison Jr., who is the son of Indianapolis Colts legend and Hall of Famer Marvin Harrison, is one of the best wide receiver prospects in years.

B/R's NFL Scouting Department ranked him as the best player in college football on its latest big board and projected him as the No. 4 overall pick in its latest mock draft.

ESPN draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. wrote in November that "the younger Harrison is on track to get my highest pre-draft grade for a wideout since Calvin Johnson (2007) and Larry Fitzgerald (2004). Harrison has everything, from outstanding size and stellar hands to incredible body control and blazing speed."

Harrison arrived at Ohio State as a 4-star prospect in the class of 2021, per 247Sports' composite rankings.

He was buried on the depth chart during his freshman season but broke through with three touchdowns in a Rose Bowl win over Utah after go-to options Chris Olave and Garrett Wilson opted out.

The star wide receiver was then elevated into a more prominent role in 2022, especially with Jaxon Smith-Njigba dealing with injuries. He finished that season with 77 catches for 1,263 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Yet it was the 2023 campaign where he was a Heisman Trophy finalist and widely considered one of the best players in the nation.

Harrison posted 67 catches for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns for a Buckeyes team that was among the best in the country but ultimately fell short of the College Football Playoff thanks to their loss to archrival Michigan.

Even with that loss, Harrison secured his legacy at Ohio State and now turns his attention toward the NFL.

He has been widely projected to be a top-five pick throughout the season and may even be the No. 1 overall selection depending on how the draft unfolds. Quarterbacks Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are also likely to be considered for that first choice, but Harrison is the type of wide receiver who can step into any offense from Day 1 and be an instant impact player.

Whichever team selects him will have a go-to option for years to come.
