Lakers' Anthony Davis Out vs. Trae Young, Hawks with Hip, Achilles Injuries

Tyler ConwayJan 30, 2024

Los Angeles Lakers forward-center Anthony Davis will miss at least one game due to hip and Achilles injuries.

The Lakers announced on Tuesday that Davis is listed as out for their game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Tuesday is the second night of a back-to-back after a 135-119 loss to the Houston Rockets on Monday. This will also be the third game of a six-game road trip for the Lakers that runs through Feb. 5.

Davis has been dealing with hip issues since a Nov. 6 loss to the Miami Heat. He sat out the entire fourth quarter and the next game against the Rockets.

There was also a brief period during Saturday's thrilling double-overtime win against the Golden State Warriors when Davis left the floor when he was hit in the groin colliding with Draymond Green on a drive to the basket in the third quarter. He was seen limping to the locker room to be evaluated, but later returned.

Davis played 45 minutes against the Warriors and 29 minutes against the Rockets. This will be the first game he's missed since Dec. 15.

While this injury doesn't seem to be serious, it's not exactly the best time to be sitting out. The Lakers lost to the Rockets, remain stuck at .500 and are tied with the Utah Jazz for the No. 9 seed in the Western Conference.
