WWE Bash in Berlin Announced for 2024; Company's 1st Premium Live Event in Germany

Mike ChiariOct 25, 2023

WWE announced Wednesday that it will hold a premium live event in Germany for the first time ever next year.

Entitled Bash in Berlin, the event will take place at Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on Aug. 31, 2024, and it figures to be the biggest pro wrestling spectacle in Germany's history.

While WWE has been touring Europe and holding shows in Germany for many years, they have typically been non-televised house shows, but the country is now set to benefit from WWE's recent international expansion when it comes to premium live events.

Dating back to last year, WWE has held PLEs in Saudi Arabia, Wales, Canada, Puerto Rico and England.

It was also announced last month that Elimination Chamber will emanate from Optus Stadium in Perth, Western Australia, on Feb. 24, 2024.

For years, WWE held SummerSlam in late August, but that has changed recently with SummerSlam 2022 occurring in late July and SummerSlam 2023 taking place in early August. The timing of Bash in Berlin suggests the trend will continue next year.

Holding Bash in Berlin on Aug. 31 puts it in close proximity to AEW's biggest show, both in terms of timing and geography.

Two months ago, AEW held its first All In pay-per-view at Wembley Stadium in London in front of a billed crowd of over 80,000.

The event was so successful that AEW announced All In would be back at Wembley on Aug. 25, 2024, which is just six days before Bash in Berlin will take over Germany.

WWE is not aiming to rival the attendance of All In with Bash in Berlin since Mercedes-Benz Arena only holds about 17,000 people for a pro wrestling event.

Still, it promises to be a significant showcase for WWE as it continues to spread its product across the globe and open up new opportunities for expansion in the future.
