3 Players Giants Must Consider Trading at 2023 NFL Deadline
The New York Giants face the harsh reality of being nowhere close to the NFC playoff picture despite putting in their best two performances of the 2023 NFL season in the last two weeks.
New York sits at 2-5 in last place in the NFC East and it resides in 13th place in the conference standings, a game-and-a-half back of the final wild-card spot.
The close loss to the Buffalo Bills and win over the Washington Commanders may provide some optimism within the franchise, but it may be better off selling one or two players at the trade deadline than adding to its depth.
The Giants may not be as active as other potential sellers because they lack desired offensive assets outside of Saquon Barkley and Darren Waller, who are both untouchable in trade talks.
If anything, New York would move on from some role players who could fill in depth on contending rosters.
Parris Campbell

The Giants should view Parris Campbell as expendable within their current wide receiver situation.
Jalin Hyatt and Wan'Dale Robinson are commanding more targets and Darius Slayton is the reliable veteran target the team must hold on to.
That leaves Campbell as the fourth-best wide receiver and fifth-or-sixth-best pass-catcher on the roster. Barkley and Waller both usually receive targets from the starting quarterback as well.
Campbell's last reception occurred in Week 5 against the Miami Dolphins. He had a season-low of two catches in that contest.
The Giants should try to collect a draft pick from in need of wide receiver depth instead of letting Campbell do nothing on the back end of the depth chart.
Sterling Shepard

Sterling Shepard only has four receptions for 26 yards this season.
The 30-year-old wide receiver is clearly not in the offensive plans moving forward. He has played on special teams, but the Giants can find someone else to return kicks.
The Giants need to get Hyatt and Robinson more targets alongside Slayton, so there is no path for Shepard to have more activity inside the offense unless an injury occurs.
Shepard may not fetch a big price tag on the trade market, but the Giants could at least add a late-round draft pick.
New York may try to get something for the veteran wide out, who could be a decent rental for a contender before he hits free agency this offseason.
Adoree' Jackson

The Giants have a decent amount of impending defensive free agents who they can deal at the deadline.
Adoree' Jackson is one of the more intriguing pieces on the Giants roster.
He could be a starter at cornerback on any contending squad, and he would not cost much on the trade market because of his 2024 free-agent status.
The Giants have to weigh whether they want to collect draft picks in the next week, or try to make a push at the playoff places in the NFC.
They play the New York Jets on Sunday before they embark on a three-game road swing to face the Las Vegas Raiders, Dallas Cowboys and Commanders.
New York could go 3-1 in its next four games and completely switch the complexion of its season, but there is also the harsh reality that it could go 1-3 or 0-4 and be 100 percent out of the playoff discussion.
The Giants front office needs to realistically weigh those options to determine if Jackson, and other veterans, are worth putting on the trade block.
