Jerry Rice: Tyreek Hill Has 'Great Chance' of Winning NFL MVP If He Gets 2K Yards

Fun fact you may have heard once or a thousand times: No wide receiver has ever won NFL MVP but a kicker has.

Jerry Rice thinks that may change if Tyreek Hill tops 2,000 yards receiving this season.

The Hall of Famer put his backing behind Hill as his MVP choice during an appearance on NFL Network's The Insiders:

Hill has compiled 53 receptions for 902 yards and seven touchdowns this season, putting him on pace for an NFL record 2,191 receiving yards. Calvin Johnson holds the current NFL record for receiving yards in a season with 1,963, which must be noted was done in a 16-game season.

Hill's 128.9 receiving yards per game would eclipse Johnson's 122.8 yards from his record-setting campaign.

Rice received MVP votes in six seasons during his NFL career and won the Pro Football Writers Association MVP in 1987 but never took home the AP award, which is the one officially recognized by the NFL.
