
Brett Maher Released by Rams After Missing 2 FGs, 1 XP in Loss to Steelers
Kicker Brett Maher's rough outing in the Los Angeles Rams' 24-17 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers cost him his job.
The Rams announced on Tuesday they released Maher, who missed one extra point and two field goals on Sunday.
Per ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Rams are going to replace Maher by signing Lucas Havrisik off the Cleveland Browns' practice squad.

Havrisik went undrafted out of Arizona in 2022. He originally signed with the Indianapolis Colts on their practice squad. The Browns signed him to their practice squad on Aug. 30 after he was waived by the Colts.
The 24-year-old has yet to appear in an NFL game. He went 34-of-53 on field goals and 73-of-78 on extra points in five years at Arizona.
Maher became a household name because of his late-season struggles with the Dallas Cowboys in 2022.
The Nebraska alum set an NFL record with four missed extra points in a single game during the Cowboys' 31-14 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Wild Card game. He also missed his only extra-point attempt the following week in the NFC Divisional Round against the San Francisco 49ers, but he was able to make two field goals in a 19-12 loss.
Maher signed with the Denver Broncos as a free agent in June, but he was released two months later after the team acquired Will Lutz from the New Orleans Saints. The Rams signed him to their practice squad and activated him to the 53-man roster before their Week 1 game against the Seattle Seahawks.
In seven games with the Rams, Maher tied for the league lead in field goals made (17), led the league in attempts (23) but had the fourth-worst success rate (73.9 percent) out of 33 qualified kickers.
