Oregon Rose Bowl Helmets: Ranking the Best Oregon Looks of All Time
The Oregon Ducks solidified themselves as the college football uniform king for another year with the new uniforms that they broke out for the Rose Bowl against Wisconsin.
The shiny silver helmets that the Ducks wore ended up becoming one of the hottest topics in sports yesterday, and Nike definitely came up with one more winning combination to add to the many different uniforms that the company has created for Oregon in the past.
The Ducks certainly have quite a recent track record of wearing attention-grabbing uniform combinations, and here's a look at a few of my favorites.
7. The Blinding Yellow Look
1 of 7Any time Oregon throws on its yellow jerseys it always causes quite a stir, and sometimes a little temporary blindness. But I happen to like the yellow look every now and then, as those jerseys alone are enough to give an opposing defense headaches.
6. The White and Grey Look
2 of 7One of the uniform combinations that I really liked from Oregon this year was the white jersey-grey pants look the Ducks went with against Washington.
It's a soft but sleek look, and the colors definitely complement each other well.
5. The Throwback Look
3 of 7Innovative new designs are great and all, but sometimes you just have to get back to the basics, and few teams have the type of quality looking throwback uniforms that Oregon has.
The yellow helmet and green jersey combination isn't flashy, but it gets the job done.
The throwback combination I liked the most from Oregon is the updated retro-looking combo the Ducks went with for the Civil War game against Oregon State back in 2009.
4. The BCS Championship Game Look
4 of 7Nike didn't give Oregon its best design for last year's BCS championship game against Auburn, but it was still a pretty darn good one, as this overall color scheme was definitely impressive.
The grey helmets with the yellow O are one of my favorite Oregon helmets ever, and the white jerseys with dark green pants certainly looked sharp.
3. The All-Black Look
5 of 7I'll admit, I'm a sucker for all-black uniforms, however, sometimes they can look a little corny if not done properly.
That certainly isn't the case when Oregon breaks out the all-black duds, though.
The sharp-looking helmet and the wings on the shoulder pads are an added bonus to what is one of the best all-black uniform combos ever done in college football.
2. The Silver Helmet Look
6 of 7Oregon managed to take the college football fashion world by storm once again with the shiny silver helmets that the Ducks wore for yesterday's Rose Bowl against Wisconsin. The futuristic-looking helmets almost received as much attention as the actual game itself, and they definitely caused the stir that Nike was hoping for.
The all-green uniforms were a nice touch, but the helmets were the real stars of the show.
1.The Nike Pro Combat Look
7 of 7As nice as yesterday's Rose Bowl uniforms were, I still can't rank them ahead of my personal favorite Oregon uniform of all time, which are the Nike pro combat uniforms that the Ducks wore for the season-opener against LSU.
This dark green outfit is both intimidating and eye-catching, and while it didn't help the Ducks get a win against LSU, they at least looked great even in defeat.
