Under Armour All-America Game 2012: Top Recruits and Commitment Predictions
The Under Armour game is this week on Thursday, and we have some of the nation's best talent lined up to play in Orlando. The game will feature several 5-star prospects and a slew of other big-name recruits.
But of course, as with any big-name prep all-star football game, the real focus is on the announcements. As I did my research, I was able to get a feel for three expected announcements set to take place during the game.
Come find out who they are and also see my prediction on who they're going to announce for.
Cyrus Jones, WR
1 of 3A decision was expected in December from Jones, but that did not happen, as he still seems torn. However, I think he will finally announce on Thursday.
Auburn vaulted themselves thick into the mix for the 5'11" 185-pounder, but they're competing with Alabama and Virginia Tech. The combination of quality football and the academic clout of the school's degree are two big factors that will shape his decision.
I think the relationship with Sal Sunseri wins out and Jones announces for Alabama.
Channing Ward, DE
2 of 3I was a bit shocked to read and find out Ward plans to announce on Thursday at the Under Armour game. He has not given much info on his recruitment, but it looks like it's all coming to a head on Jan. 5.
Ward has consistently seemed keen on Auburn, Ole Miss, Alabama, Mississippi State and LSU. I've always felt it would be tough to get Ward out of his home state of Mississippi, but LSU, Auburn and 'Bama have been strong.
However, I predict Ward makes someone like David Banner happy on Thursday by announcing he's staying home and wil play for Ole Miss.
Landon Collins, SS
3 of 3Collins has been focused on Alabama and LSU for months, as I know Texas has tried getting in the mix, but this is a true two-horse race.
At 6'0", 210 pounds, Collins shows to be uber-instinctive in the box, physical against the run and be your typical eight defender to aid the front seven. On the back end, he's productive in space in coverage, showing an ability to be a factor in the zone due to his awareness.
After months of going back and forth on my prediction for him, I think Collins announces he's headed to LSU.
