Lakers Rumors: Lakeshow Must Push Hard to Bring Kevin Love to Cali
Now is the time to pursue Kevin Love...hard. The Lakers are in need of a youthful injection, as well as a solid rebounder. Pau Gasol is of course, the player the Lakers will dangle to pry Love from the Wolves. The only difference now as opposed to when this trade rumor first surfaced in June, is that it may take more than just Gasol to land Love.
Wolves should request more, which would have to be in the form of draft picks. It is possible a sign and trade could be done. If not, they would of course have to include Wesley Johnson and or Anthony Randolph to make it work. The Lakers and Wolves should jump at it, even if it means getting a third team involved. Seeing as though the Wolves have yet to offer Love a contract extension, and he has issued a January 15th deadline, it would stand to reason that they'd at least listen.
Love was born in Santa Monica, California and he went to UCLA—it seems like a perfect fit. Many Lakers fans are tired of seeing this type of play from Gasol:
The Wolves would gain a post presence that is a proven scorer on the block. Gasol wouldn't have to battle Kobe for shots, or have his temperament come under fire as it does routinely in Los Angeles.
The Wolves are nuts not to lock up Love, but if they aren't going to do it, there really isn't a better deal out there for them than this one.
It seems that they want to clear the way for Derrick Williams. That leaves room for Gasol to slide in at the center position. It could work for both teams, though I believe the Lakers would get the best of the deal.
